What you want to know …

How can developing countries reduce poverty, hunger and inequality? Is there anything that can be done to improve human rights, civil liberties and the overall quality of life in the developing world? What are the effects of environmental degradation, overpopulation, industrialization and globalization on the developing world?

Philosophy of IPED

The International Political Economy and Development program focuses on the interconnected processes of political, economic, social, cultural and environmental change taking place in developing countries. The course is designed to provide a comparative perspective on the long-term political, economic and social changes that have accompanied industrialization and the growth of the modern state. The course emphasizes: a global perspective on the process of change and development; theoretical issues that relate to growth and development; and critical analysis of the role of internal and external influences on the development process.
